I’ve got everything out of the storage unit, now I need to find a spot for for it; hence, the disorder.

The cabinetry is almost complete, a couple of minor issues outstanding. The plumber will be here on Monday to install the sinks and taps, hook up the washer and dish washer, and fit the range hood. Just need the electrician to hook up the cook top, and I’ll have a functioning household again. The measurements were taken for the glass splashbacks yesterday, but the production time is currently four to five weeks 🙁

Now I need to figure out where everything is going to go, and get the rest of the things out of storage. And then find the best lighting to take the final photos.
What a week! Flooring was delivered on Tuesday, and laid on Wednesday and Thursday. Electrician came in on Thursday to take care of most of the remaining work; last thing is to install the induction cooktop next week. On Friday morning the countertops were installed.

I finally found a company who is willing to create the framework for my pot rack/light bar to go above the kitchen island; hopefully they can get that done before the end of the month. The glass place will be here on Thursday to measure for the splash backs; that should take two weeks. Just need to get the finishing touches done to the cabinetry, and get the plumber in to fit the sinks (kitchen and laundry) and the range hood.
Now that both ovens are powered up I can’t make my mind up what should be the first thing I cook.
My long weekend is going to be spent cleaning (dust is everywhere), deciding what should go where in the kitchen, and maybe playing with some of the new toys.
A very busy, and productive, couple of days. Yesterday I had the painters painting, the builder hanging doors and fitting new architraves, and the electricians running the final cables under the house, fitting outlets and lights. Today it was just the painter and electrician, but the results are showing.

A bit more paint touch up, then on to the hallway and the laundry (where the prep is mostly done).
The painter started on Thursday and got everything taped and the gaps filled.

Today the rest of the prep work was completed, and the primer put down.

The remaining doors should be ready on Monday, and the measure for the countertops will happen the same day. The electrician will be here on Tuesday to take care of most of the remaining electrical work. The painter hopes to have finished his work by the end of the week, but definitely by the following Tuesday. That’s the day that the flooring will be delivered. Just have to co-ordinate when that can get laid, probably two days of work.
The only big problem is trying to find someone to make the light bar support/pot rack that will go above the kitchen island. Seems everyone has so much work that a small job like mine doesn’t register 🙁
All the Miele appliances were delivered on Monday, and yesterday the electrician was here to do lots of wiring – the two ovens are installed, the deck lights are all hooked up, and the living room down lights are connected. Today the builder was here to fit all the new doors and the architraves. Unfortunately, four of the doors were bowed and have been sent back, so those doors and architraves remain to be done.

Tomorrow the painting starts!
The cabinets are mostly installed, just a few details left to do. Once they started to go in I realised that the blue I had chosen for the feature walls would not work. The new colour is on the right of the first photo.

The cornices went in today, so the house is back to being draft-free.
Hopefully the new doors will be here Friday or Monday, so the next work day the architraves and skirting boards will be removed, the doors hung, and the new architraves fitted. The appliances are also due to be delivered on Monday.
Hopefully the measurements for the counter tops will be done this week. The only hiccup might be that the stone mason will want the sinks before doing the cutting. Apparently some are happy to work from the dimensions, others not.

This is an idea of the colour scheme I’m looking at. The blue is for two feature walls – one in the dining area, the other in the living area. The rest of the walls will be Berkshire White, the off-white colour in the photo; and the trim will be Lexicon Quarter, close to the bright white in the photo. I was undecided on the colour for the door, so I put on a sample of each to see how they looked. The doors are being replaced, so I don’t have to be too careful.

Yesterday Mick the installer arrived with the base units. Immediately I could get a good mental picture of the layout.

And today all the boxes were delivered. The kitchen is starting to take shape

While in the laundry they’ve just been roughly positioned

And a bunch waiting in the wings
